ADV 1000: Intro to Digital Design Tools
This course introduces digital design tools from the Adobe Creative Suite of software and production best practices. The course uses creative projects and exercises with step-by-step instruction to develop a working knowledge of the software and establish technique. This foundational skill set will prepare students to approach execution of their creative advertising concepts. The course will focus on Photoshop and Illustrator and touch on InDesign.
ADV 2000: Typography Class
This class will be about the study of typography as it applies to advertising and design. You will learn how to make good typographic choices by understanding and applying the fundamentals of typography. There will be a number of projects in which the critique method will be used involving class participation. A working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Indesign or Quark Express are necessary. ADV 2010: Social Media & Society
Digital media influences many facets of our everyday lives. In order to better understand our contemporary media environment, this course addresses the history, creation, control and influence of digital communication technologies that inform participatory media culture. Further, this course analyzes various media industries¿ relationships with emerging technologies through theoretical and practical applications in order to synthesize key debates in the field.
ADV 3000: Intermediate Digital Design Tools
This course builds on an introductory knowledge of digital design tools from the Adobe Creative Suite of software and production best practices. The course uses creative projects and exercises with step-by-step instruction to develop a proficiency in the software and establish technique. This foundational skill set will give students the ability to execute their creative advertising concepts. Students will work in InDesign at the introductory level and work in Photoshop and Illustrator at an intermediate level.
ADV 3010: Interactive Media Planning
In this course, students learn advanced concepts of media planning, as it pertains to the internet and technology. Students will learn with online media selection criteria for the following: Search Social Media Mobile Media Ad Networks and Exchanges Endemic Sites Students will develop an understanding for pricing structures, targeting techniques, and how to work with rich media. Students will also learn current industry trends and idiosyncrasies of this evolving medium.
