Advertising Tenured or Tenure-Track Faculty Position

The Department of Advertising in the School of Media and Communication at Temple University has opened a search for a tenured associate or full professor in advertising position to begin August 2015. Review of applications will begin October 1, 2014, and will continue until the position is filled.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong scholarly record in advertising. Preference will be given to applicants with a record of publishing in top-tier academic journals and presenting peer-reviewed research at national or international communication conferences. The successful candidate also will demonstrate the ability to be an outstanding teacher of college-level courses across the advertising curriculum at undergraduate and graduate levels. An earned Ph.D. (or dissertation defended by August 2015) or other terminal degree, in communication or a relevant discipline, is strongly preferred. Professional experience is highly desirable.

Advertising has over 500 undergraduate majors in one of four tracks: copywriting, art direction, research and management/media planning. Tenure-track and tenured research faculty can also serve on the faculty of the School of Media and Communication’s doctoral program in Media and Communication. Temple University’s School of Media and Communication (SMC) is in Philadelphia, the nation’s fourth- largest media market. SMC is a comprehensive school of communication whose other departments include Advertising, Media Studies and Production, and Strategic Communication.
