The Department of Journalism within the School of Media and Communication at Temple University seeks candidates for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin in August 2014 focused on emerging journalism technologies and new story forms and design, with emphasis in mobile technologies and app development. The successful candidate needs to provide evidence of teaching experience and a clear research agenda. A Ph.D. is preferred.
The goal of Temple’s journalism program is to prepare students for a multimedia professional future with solid training in urban journalism, with particular emphasis on underserved communities. We seek a colleague with a similar commitment and philosophy.
The Department of Journalism is more than 80 years old with 15 full-time faculty members who teach over 650 undergraduate and graduate students. A Master of Journalism program offers professional training to full- and part-time students. Departmental faculty members who hold the Ph.D. also have the opportunity to participate in the School of Media and Communication doctoral program in Media and Communication.
