The Department of Journalism within the School of Media and Communication at Temple University seeks candidates for an open-rank professor position (tenure-track or non-tenure-track, depending on qualifications) to begin in August 2015. The position will focus on journalism business models and entrepreneurship, including an understanding of audience engagement and measurement, and news organization management. The successful candidate should have significant professional experience in revenue generation, whether within start-ups, within larger businesses or both. This person will be expected to build a professional or academic research agenda in these areas. An advanced degree in a relevant field is preferred.
The goal of Temple’s journalism program is to prepare students for a multimedia professional future with solid training in urban journalism, with particular emphasis on underserved communities. We seek a colleague with a similar commitment and philosophy.
The Department of Journalism is more than 80 years old with 15 full-time faculty members who teach over 650 undergraduate and graduate students. A Master of Journalism program offers professional training to full- and part-time students. Departmental faculty members holding the Ph.D. also have the opportunity to participate in the School of Media and Communication doctoral program in Media and Communication.
