Organizational Leadership Position – Department of Strategic Communication

The Department of Strategic Communication (STRC) in the School of Media and Communication at Temple University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in its organizational leadership track, effective fall semester 2014.

Applicants should have research interests in organizational communication, organizational change, or health communication. The successful candidate will be able to teach undergraduate courses in organizational communication, organizational change or health communication, and a graduate course in research methods. The ideal candidate will be a quantitative researcher who shows outstanding promise of publishing in top-tier scholarly publications. An earned Ph.D. in organizational communication or in a relevant discipline is preferred.

STRC has 11 full-time faculty members and nearly 500 undergraduate majors in one of four tracks: general sequence, organizational leadership, public relations, and rhetoric and public advocacy. STRC offers an M.S. degree in communication management. Tenure-track and tenured research faculty can also serve on the faculty of the school-wide doctoral program in Media and Communication.

The department is one of four in the School of Media and Communication, which is among the largest and most comprehensive schools of communication in the nation. It enrolls nearly 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students and has nearly 60 full-time faculty members. The school offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in five cross-disciplinary programs: Advertising, Communication Studies, Journalism, Media Studies and Production, and Strategic Communication. The school also offers three master’s degree programs—Master of Arts in Media Studies and Production, Master of Journalism, and a Master of Science in Communication Management—and a Ph.D. in Mass Media and Communication.
