Position in Public Relations (Non-Tenure Track)

The Department of Strategic Communication (STRC) in the School of Media and Communication at Temple University invites applications for a non-tenure-track assistant professor in public relations, effective fall semester 2014.

Applicants should have interest and experience in teaching courses such as media information gathering and evaluation (research methods), public relations writing (fundamentals and advanced), social media, and public relations campaigns. The successful candidate will have an outstanding record of college-level teaching and significant professional experience in public relations. The qualified applicant should preferably have a Ph.D. in communication or in a relevant discipline, but have at least a master’s degree.

The department is one of four in a school of more than 3,000 students. STRC has 12 full-time faculty members and 510 undergraduate majors in one of four tracks: general, organizational leadership, public relations, and rhetoric and public advocacy. STRC offers an M.S. degree in communication management and an online graduate certificate in leadership.

STRC is one of four departments in the School of Media and Communication, which is among the largest and most comprehensive schools of communication in the nation. It enrolls nearly 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students, and has nearly 60 full-time faculty members. The school houses four departments: Advertising, Journalism, Media Studies and Production, and Strategic Communication. It also offers three programs that are shared across the school: a bachelor’s degree in communication studies, an M.S. in Global Communication and Development, and a Ph.D. in Media and Communication.
