Deadline Information

Program Dates and Deadlines

Summer 2013 semester: May 21 – August 3, 2013

Fall 2013 semester: August 25 – December 9, 2013  (Tentative)
Early Deadline: June 7th
Regular deadline: July 1, 2013

Spring 2014 semester: January 19 – May 8, 2014 (Tentative)
Application deadline: November 1, 2013

Summer 2014 semester: May 20 – August 2, 2014
Priority Deadline: November  22nd***
Regular Deadline: February 21st

***The summer priority deadline option is for students who are interested in applying for internships at some of the big name studios where application deadlines can be as early as January 2013.  The vast majority of internship opportunities for the Summer 2014 program, however, will not become available until closer to departure in May 2013.  Please note that your $500 non-refundable deposit is due at time of application if you elect to apply for the priority deadline.  We will only be able to consider your application for the priority deadline if your application is complete by November 22nd, 2013.  In order for your application to be considered complete you must submit the online application, have both of your letters of recommendation submitted online, and submit your $500 non-refundable deposit to Room 213 of the Architecture Building (across from Annenberg Hall).  Your deposit is due in the form of a check or money order made out to “Temple University” with your TUid and name on it.  If you are not admitted to the program, your check will be returned to you.  You will be notified of your admissions decision by the end of the first week of January. View the list of internships requiring earlier application deadlines here.

Application Requirements and Forms

Requirements for all applicants:

  • Two recommendation letters from college instructors
  • A current résumé
  • An essay approximately 1-2 pages long describing how this program would contribute to your personal and academic development
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is highly preferred

Other requirements:

  • Undergraduate students must have junior or senior status and have completed a minimum of 63 credits by the end of the previous semester before the internship
  • Graduate students must have completed the first year of studies, typically 24 credits
  • Non-Temple students must submit an official transcript to FMA Study Away
