On Election Day 2012, TUTV presented a live news broadcast, America Votes. For nearly two hours, School of Media and Communication students from Temple Update and the Department of Journalism aired stories and interviews as American voters re-elected Barack Obama.

“TUTV believes that the opportunity to air live election coverage for the first time in its history not only provides important localized election night information to our audience, it provides an unparalleled experiential learning opportunity for our talented and tenacious students,” says TUTV General Manager Paul Gluck, associate professor of media studies and production.

The journalism students who participated were in classes taught by Associate Professor Karen M. Turner and Assistant Professor Fran Viola.
