The authors of Dollarocracy: How the Money and Media Election Complex is Destroying America, John Nichols and Robert McChesney, will speak on Temple University’s Main Campus Tuesday, Sept. 17. The event is in Kiva Auditorium, Ritter Hall Annex, at 3 p.m.
It is free and open to the public.
From the authors:
“Billionaires fund the candidates in both parties, and even when their politician loses, big money wins. Billionaires push self-serving plans, like austerity, an when their agendas are rejected at the polls, they regroup and repurpose their failed ideas, buying them back into consideration. So we keep talking about the same proposals, even when voters want to move on. That’s not a real debate, that’s a propaganda exercise. It’s not a democracy, it’s a dollarocracy.”
