All programs are open to both undergraduate and graduate students at Temple University and other institutions. Applications will be reviewed once all materials have been submitted. Applicants will be notified by email of the decision regarding admission.

Application Requirements
– Attend an Intro to Study Away Information Session before applying
– Two academic references from college professors or teaching assistants (TAs)
– An essay approximately 1-2 pages (500 words) long describing how this program would contribute to your personal and academic development
– A preferred 3.0 cumulative GPA
– Current enrollment as a full-time, matriculated student who has completed at least two years of college-level study. In some instances, a student can participate in the semester program during his or her sophomore year
– Good academic and disciplinary standing; students on academic or disciplinary probation or warning may not participate
– Plan to undertake a full-time program of study at Temple University London and to apply credits earned towards a degree
– Non-Temple students must submit an official transcript from their home institution to SMC Study Away
Program Deposit: A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within two weeks of your acceptance to the program and in some situations, it sooner. The deposit will hold your place on the program and will then will be applied toward your tuition and program fee

– A preferred 3.0 cumulative GPA
– Current enrollment as a full-time, matriculated student who has completed at least two years of college-level study. In some instances, a student can participate in the semester program during his or her sophomore year
– Good academic and disciplinary standing; students on academic or disciplinary probation or warning may not participate
– Plan to undertake a full-time program of study on the study away program, which is a minimum of 6-credits on a summer program, and to apply credits earned towards a degree
– Non-Temple students must submit an official transcript from their home institution to SMC Study Away

– Additional requirement for South Africa and Global Internship: A current résumé
– Additional requirement for South Africa: Students will need to select one of the following tracks:

  • Research: Students must have taken an introductory research methods class or equivalent. Research may focus on any topic but it must relate to the media.
  • Production: Students must have taken an introductory audio and/or video production, photography, journalism writing intensive class, or equivalent. Students in the production track can choose to focus on audio, video, text, and or photography.

– Additional requirement for Global Internship: recommended language proficiency

  • Barcelona: Knowledge of the language is not required, however, the more Spanish a student speaks the more internship opportunities that are available
  • Hong Kong: No level of Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) proficiency is required to participate and an abundant number of internships in all areas are available in English only. Those students that do have proficiency in either language, however, will have an exceptional number of internship opportunities available to them
  • Paris: Knowledge of the language is not required, however, the more French a student speaks the more internship opportunities are available
