Dublin Financial Information

Program fees and estimated additional costs for the Dublin program are outlined below, as is information about scholarships that can be applied towards the program costs.

Scholarships

SMC Study Away Scholarship
A limited number of scholarships are available to qualified Temple students. The amount of the scholarships varies and is based on need and merit. The awards will range from $500-2,000 and the amount of the award is determined by SMC Study Away in consultation with Temple’s financial aid office. Awards will be given depending upon the amount of funds available. Please apply using the program application form.

Eligibility

In order to qualify for one of the scholarships above, you must:

  1. be enrolled as a full-time, matriculated student at Temple University at the time of application for a scholarship;
  2. have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average;
  3. enroll as a full-time student in the program;
  4. demonstrate financial need;
  5. be a United States citizen or Permanent Resident.

Additional Scholarships

A recent survey conducted by Diamond Edge Communications found that just 36% of students applied for scholarships for study away!  Don’t miss out on the opportunities that exist to help you fund these experiences!  The next set of scholarships are available to Temple University students and can be used for study away program expenses.

Tuition and Fees

Per university policy, Temple students will be charged their home school tuition regardless of participation in a program offered through the School of Media and Communication. See the Bursar’s website to calculate your tuition rate.

Tuition for full-time students (6 credits):
PA state residents: $3,624*
Out-of-state residents: $5,526*

Graduate Tuition
PA state residents: $865 per credit hour*
Out-of-state residents: $1,163 per credit hour*

*Please note that the tuition rates listed above are simply an example of the applicable tuition rates for a student whose home school is the School of Media and Communication. All students are strongly encouraged to calculate their individual tuition rate.

Fees (for all students):
Program fee: $3,555*
University Services Fee: $132
International Insurance Fee: $51*

Estimated totals for billed expenses (for undergraduate SMC students):
PA state residents: $7,362
Out-of-state residents: $9,264

* Program fees do not include meals, but kitchen facilities are available.

Included in the tuition and program fee:

  • Two Media and Communication courses with a focus on Irish culture (6 undergraduate credits)
  • Welcome lunch
  • Day trip to Glendalough
  • Weekend trip to County Kerry or Northern Ireland
  • Shared student housing in apartments in Dublin
  • An orientation session and a tour of the city
  • Local transportation pass
  • A comprehensive health insurance package
  • Farewell lunch

  • Passport, new: $120+
  • Passport, renewal: $85+
  • Meals: $500 (estimated summer total). This will vary depending on style of living.
  • Daily expenses: $1000 (estimated summer total). This will vary depending on style of living.
  • Cell phone rental estimate: $150
  • International Student Identity Card: $25
  • Roundtrip airfare from Philadelphia: $700-$1,000
