Grace, Dublin Summer 2014

Hi! My name is Grace Nonnemaker and I am a Journalism major specializing in Broadcasting. When I first came to Temple on “Experience Temple Day,” I knew I wanted to study abroad, but I was worried about cost, which program to pick and I was unsure about leaving the country for the first time. Once I arrived in Dublin everything changed. I fell in love with the Irish people and every aspect of Irish culture. I travelled to all four provinces of Ireland and even made a few trips to mainland Europe. My experience abroad was the most amazing time of my life and I will be telling stories about my experiences forever! I hope to share my stories and help you find a way to create some of your own! I would do anything to relive my summer in Dublin, so I will be doing that through all of you! “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” -Mark Twain

Dylan, Dublin Summer 2014

Hi! My name is Dylan Keith, and I am a Journalism and Advertising double major from Connecticut. When I came to Temple I knew I wanted to study abroad but I didn’t know where I wanted to go. I have always wanted to travel and had looked at going to many different places around the world, but when I did some research into the programs offered at Temple I found the Dublin Program. Deciding to go to Dublin was the best decision I have ever made. I did not know much about the city or Ireland but after leaving I felt like I was leaving home. Traveling around Ireland and seeing all four provinces was an amazing experience. The information I got from my professors and on my own travels immersed me into the Irish culture. After my trip to Ireland I have even more of a taste for traveling. I think everyone should experience some travel at some point in life and Study Away presents that opportunity. Traveling can give you an experience like nothing else. The feeling you get when you step off the plane in another country is unlike anything else, and that is just the beginning.

Shannon, Dublin Summer 2014

My name is Shannon Miller and I am majoring in Media Studies and Production. I have always been interested in any type of travel whether it is in the United States or internationally so studying abroad was something I had been planning for a long time. When I found out Temple offered a program through the School of Media and Communications in Ireland I knew it was the program for me. I was so eager to learn about media from the perspective of a different culture outside of the one that I already live in. Additionally, because I have Irish roots on both sides of my family, learning more about the Irish culture intrigued me but I never expected to learn as much about the history of Ireland like I did on my Study Away experience. For me, there is nothing more unique than being able to say that I was lucky enough to call somewhere as beautiful as Ireland home for six weeks of my summer. I am so thankful for my experience and I can’t wait to share it with everyone that I possibly can.

Allison, Dublin Summer 2013

I studied in Dublin, Ireland during Summer 2013. I chose the program because the classes were arts-based that semester.

With music being my minor I wanted to get to know the industry of another country. Ireland was a great place to choose to learn about music since you can find it everywhere; on the streets, in the theater and in the pubs. Studying away in Dublin was definitely one of the best experiences of my life. I met a lot of great people, saw amazing new places and learned a lot, too. I am hoping to go back there as soon as possible and hopefully stay for a more extended time. Even though it is such a small country there is so much to do and see. I recommend studying abroad to anyone considering it because there is no other experience like it. It’s unforgettable and life-changing. Please feel free to contact me with any questions!

I don’t think I could ever forget the summer of 2013 I spent in Dublin, Ireland. It was, hands down, my best college experience ever. Not only did I get to study away in a beautiful country, but I got to do it with the best people and one of the best professors I have ever had! I couldn’t imagine doing anything else with my last college summer. Not only do you learn about the beautiful country, the amazing people and the wonderful culture but you also learn so much about yourself. Having the opportunity to travel to every corner of the country was an incredible experience. I can’t recommend studying away enough! It doesn’t matter if you’re SMC or not, it would be a great decision. Please, feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to talk about Dublin!

Hi! I’m Caitlin, and I am a Peer Advisor. I hope to pursue a career in Public Relations in Dublin after graduating. While in Ireland, I fell completely in love with the country. As someone who always loved to travel, this trip has been the high point of my life. The summer of 2013 will be one for the books! I studied away in Dublin, Ireland, which has been the best experience while studying here at Temple. Our Temple group took Ireland by storm; we traveled to every part of Ireland, and experienced so much of the wonderful Irish culture. Going abroad is definitely an important aspect to anyone’s education. You learn so much about another country, and about yourself! To be able to help other Temple University students accomplish this amazing experience is a great feeling!

Hello! My name is Brianna Prime and I’m from the small town of Bedford, Pennsylvania. My concentration of Public Relations suits me because I am very congenial and organized so hopefully I can pursue event planning. I am an effervescent, smiley, loving person who loves learning about different people and places. I went to Dublin, Ireland in the Summer 2012 program, which was the best experience of my life! I absolutely fell in love with the country and am trying to intern there for an entire summer in the future. While there, I traveled to every nook and cranny of Ireland, exploring as much as I could in this one culture to truly immerse myself in all that is Irish. I came in contact with one of the most prominent wedding planning companies in the world, “Weddings by Franc” and I am determined to work with them in the future. The “underdog” of all countries, Ireland has the most fascinating history that I fell in love with and I can see myself living there in the future. Maybe they’ll see me at Trinity?? As the youngest member on the study abroad I highly recommend doing one of these programs as soon as possible! By going to Dublin right after my Freshman year, I have gained the independence I needed to fully pursue my dreams and aspirations. Studying abroad has opened many doors for me early on, which I believe is one of the most beneficial things I have ever done for myself. I recommend this to everyone! Please feel free to contact me! I have no problem talking through e-mails, Facebook, Skype, or even meeting in person for whoever is truly passionate about this program. “Overcome the notion that you must be regular. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary.”

Hey everyone! My name is Emily Maher. Taking part in the Dublin Study Away program was arguably the best thing that ever happened to me. I connected with an amazing group of Temple students I never would have met otherwise, and I connected with a country I never thought I would see.

Emily, Dublin Summer 2012

Ireland is the most beautiful sight, and Dublin is exciting and lively. From the people to the pubs, I felt so welcomed and at home. It was also extremely rewarding to be taught by an Irish professor. The methods of teaching over there were so different, but it gave me a lot of insight into Irish culture and a city with so much history. I value my time there so much, it’s the best place to explore and find yourself! I urge you to contact me with any questions about the program, I’d love to talk to you about it!
