Program schedule
July 8th-11th: Orientation in Philadelphia and preparation for your work in South Africa
July 12th: Dr. Bhayroo will leave from JFK airport arriving in Johannesburg the morning of July 13th. Please see below for more information on flights.
August 14th: last official day of the program and last night in the B&B
August 15th: student departures from Johannesburg
Flight information
Dr. Bhayroo will be on flight SA204 with South African Airways. SA204 leaves JFK on Friday, July 12th at 11:15AM and arrives in Johannesburg at 8:20AM on Saturday, July 13th. This is a nonstop flight that is currently $2323.09 through STA Travel. If you choose this flight, we will arrange a subsidized shuttle to JFK from Philadelphia. The shuttle would leave Philadelphia at 3AM on July 12th. We are looking into the shuttle costs and will let you know shortly what the student portion would be. If you choose to book this flight through STA, please be sure to purchase the ISIC card, which costs $25, to receive the student price.
If you do not choose to reserve the flight above, please be aware that you should arrive to the B&B in Johannesburg no later than the evening of Sunday, July 15th. You would need to find your own way from the airport to the B&B, which could cost around $100. If you choose this option, we will give you further instructions on how to make your way from the airport to the B&B in Johannesburg.
