Scholarships
The School of Media and Communication offers several scholarships for academic tuition, internships, study away, and other opportunities. Additional opportunities are available through individual departments. All scholarship applicants will receive notification directly via email, and recipients’ names will then be posted online. Applications for scholarships are accepted once per semester, by the deadlines which will be posted on this page, all materials must be received by the due date for consideration, and late applications will not be accepted.
Prospective Students:
Temple University has announced a new academic scholarship program for incoming freshmen. For detailed information, including the academic criteria, click here. For additional information, click here.
The School of Media and Communication is happy to announce that all incoming freshmen for fall 2013 will be considered for the new SMC Scholarship. Awards will be given to 10 incoming students in the amount of $8,000 per award ($1,000 per semester for eight semesters over the next four years, provided the student maintains eligibility) based on their academic qualifications. Students who are selected for the Scholarship will be contacted directly; separate applications aren’t necessary.
SMC Students:
Applicants will be notified by email by the end of the semester in which they applied. If you apply in the fall, you will be notified in mid-December. If you applied in the spring, you will be notified by mid-May. All applicants will be notified of their status and recipient names will be posted on this webpage.
5/20/13 UPDATE: All spring scholarship applicants have been notified via email of their status.

Unless otherwise specified, sophomore status at the time the award is to be received is required. Also, a special note to transfer students, a Temple GPA is required at the time of application. Since all awards are applied to tuition, a student must be enrolled at Temple at the time the award is to be received. Class level status and Temple GPA will be verified before final awards are posted to a student’s account. Any false or misleading information submitted as part of an application will result in automatic disqualification and potentially further ramifications.
