Each year, we invite hundreds of our internship hosts and employers of our recent graduates to attend a senior showcase. Advertising students present their case studies, portfolios, cover letters and résumés to potential employers. This exciting and innovative event opens doors for many of our students to secure internships and jobs upon graduation.
Every Advertising major must either perform an internship or gain hands-on experience through our student-run advertising agency, Diamond Edge Communications. We have approximately 100 students interning annually at ad agencies; magazines; marketing departments; media companies; newspapers; tourism venues; TV and radio stations; web, interactive and SEO firms; and dozens of other advertising-related businesses.
Our internship directors work closely with students and employers—many of whom come to campus to recruit interns—to ensure their internships are both excellent learning experiences. Internship directors also work closely with students to review their résumés and cover letters and help them prepare for internship and job interviews. When students complete their internships, they prepare portfolios of work—valuable assets they can with them on future job interviews.
Advertising internships require a minimum 3.0 GPA and junior-level status. New opportunities are listed daily on the Advertising Department listserv and SMConnect, our exclusive internship and job portal.
