As a Journalism major in Temple’s School of Media and Communication (SMC), you’ll not only study the craft of journalism—you’ll also practice it.
For their capstone experiences, all journalism students report for PhiladelphiaNeighborhoods.com, an award-winning news website that serves as the cornerstone of the Department of Journalism’s mission to report on the undercovered and underserved neighborhoods of Philadelphia. Students also can work in on-campus media outlets and student journalism organizations, including
- Aperture Photo Agency;
- Fourteenth Street magazine;
- Her Campus Temple;
- Society of Professional Journalists;
- Temple Association of Black Journalists;
- The Temple News;
- TUTV: A Broader View, Crossroads, OwlSports Update and Temple Update;
- WHIP Radio.
Our internship program gives you year-round opportunities to gain professional experience at practically every journalistic outlet in the area, including
- Comcast SportsNet;
- KYW Newsradio 1060;
- The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News and Philly.com;
- Philadelphia Weekly;
- and many others.
Journalism internships require a minimum 3.0 GPA and junior-level status. New real-world experiences are listed every day on SMConnect, our exclusive internship and job portal.
