Casa Milà in Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona

The Global Internship program in Barcelona is an all-inclusive program that provides students with the opportunity to live, learn and work in one of the most culturally diverse cities on the Mediterranean Sea. The population of Barcelona speaks both Catalan and Spanish. Beaches, beautiful parks, famous architecture, historic stadiums, and live music and theaters all exist within the city limits. Barcelona is also popular for shopping, and Las Ramblas is a famous series of five streets that connect to become one of the finest pedestrian boulevards in the world, filled with cafés, shops, street performers and much more.

Barcelona also provides a fascinating variation on Spanish culture. It shows a slightly different side of Spain than you might find elsewhere, due to its geography, history and influences. The resistance of the Catalans over time has left the city with a free-spirited exuberance that both charms and welcomes visitors. The strong cultural and linguistic roots of Catalonia are deeply embedded in the city’s past and give Barcelona much of its unique flavor.

A number of Barcelona internships are available in almost all industries, most notably in communications, event planning, journalism, public relations and publishing.

Language Proficiency

The more Spanish a student speaks overall, the more opportunities and options they’ll have during the internship placement process. However, fluency is not necessary to participate in the program. Students with lower Spanish proficiency may be paired at internship sites with students who have stronger Spanish skills for specific projects.

Hong Kong's skyline at night

The Global Internship program in Hong Kong provides great opportunities to intern in a developing world economy known for its innovation. In Hong Kong, the modern stands side by side with the traditional. It’s a city that boasts many seemingly contradictory titles. One of these, the East-meets-West cultural aspect, is enduringly interesting.

Both fast-paced and personal, Hong Kong offers a distinct blend of Chinese tradition and a wealth of influences from international waters. It is a city of multiple islands with an amazing skyline and exceptional architecture. Navigation within the city is easy, as it has a modern public transportation system and signs are in both English and Chinese.

Language Proficiency

As most businesses in Hong Kong conduct their daily work in English, Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) proficiency is not required to participate. Those students who do have either Cantonese or Mandarin proficiency will have a greater number of internship options available to them.
